Hello to all!
By the time
you are reading this edition, most of you will be wearing sweaters
and jackets and we will be getting ready to shovel some snow.
Yes, the winter is around the corner for most of us. Anyway, this
is the news since our last edition:
PRESIDENT'S
LETTER. It is very refreshing to read Joan Harvey's column.
She is so enthusiastic. I invite you to enjoy reading it. I always
hope it will motivate you to participate in the growth of our
Society.
NEW
MEMBERS AND UPDATES.
a) We welcome new 4 members (two are apprentice and two are certified).
Please read their bios in our dedicated section.
b) Let's congratulate two upgrades to certified. Please read their
bios in our dedicated section.
c) After forty- four years of valuable service to the flavor industry
as a flavorist, mentor, teacher and various functions in the leadership
of The Society of Flavor Chemists, Carole Pollock has applied
for Emeritus Membership in the Society of Flavor Chemists and
the Board of Directors unanimously approved her application as
of October 4th, 2002. We published her Good-bye letter in the
summer edition of this newsletter. Good luck, Carole!
d) We witnessed the First Annual Golden
Blotter Award at the September meeting. Congratulations to
the recipients: Earle Merwin, Dr. Jan Stofberg and Al Saldarini.
Pictures of this event are available.
FLAVOR
NOTES. This edition's contributor is Eugene Buday. He brings
us this column about doing flavor creation in a small town. Go
ahead and read it. It will put a smile on your face. Guaranteed.
